Living with a neurodivergent mind means navigating a world that often measures human worth by external speed and compliance rather than internal effort.

When it comes to my mental health, treatment has brought real clarity. Olanzapine successfully silenced the most severe, acute symptoms of my condition—it quieted the terrifying noise, brought stability back to my perception, and gave me a grounded baseline to operate from. But medication is a targeted tool, not a rewrite of how my brain processes daily focus, energy, and routine.

What remains is the daily reality of executive dysfunction.

To someone looking from the outside, executive dysfunction looks identical to inaction. People who do not understand it are quick to label it as "laziness" or a lack of discipline. What they fail to see is the heavy friction happening behind the scenes. Laziness is a conscious choice to sit back and not care; executive dysfunction is wanting desperately to complete a task, having the exact steps mapped out in your head, but experiencing a complete transmission failure between the brain’s intent and the body’s movement. It is an exhausting mental standstill, not a moral failing.

Navigating this while attempting to study has reshaped how I view my surroundings. I used to feel emotionally comfortable with educators, believing that a learning environment was a space of mutual respect, guidance, and safety. Losing that trust has been a hard lesson. When understanding is replaced by bureaucracy, public judgment, or indifference, the space stops being safe. Recognizing that loss of trust isn't a failure on my part—it is simply a clear, necessary boundary.

I refuse to let anyone redefine who I am or what I deserve.

I am a human being with inherent dignity, fundamental rights, and complete freedom of conscience.

I am not cheap labour. I am not a statistic, a metric, or a transactional product manufactured by my college. I am a student—a person here to learn, to think, to grow, and to exist on my own terms without compromising my self-worth.

My routine may look different from others, and my mind may process the world through a different lens, but my humanity is non-negotiable.
